Number Target Challenge Level 9 provides a substantial challenge for pupils who are comfortable with the earlier intermediate levels. Targets are more constrained, and pupils must take greater care not to use important numbers too early or create an unhelpful intermediate result. Solutions may involve nested operations or several connected calculations. Pupils must therefore record their working clearly and check that their complete route remains valid.
